L27 Retodon8 explored L24 Peltoid Valley and found another good card to use. After that he started exploring at L25.
L30 Denroot levelled up to L31 exploring L29 Peltoid Valley. She earned another Skill Point and since she already completed the Body skill tree, for obvious reasons she picked "Puzzle Solver" from the Mind tree now. I guess if a characters hits L90 it will all 3 trees complete.
She also found a moderately high card, not useful to herself. I think it's possible to send a card from one character to another using the guild's donation system, so maybe that's the trick to getting Retodon8 some better stats quick/cheap.
