King's Quest: Quest for the Crown (PC)
"The original Sierra adventure game with colourful, pseudo-3D graphics, animations, a third person view and the familiar text parser. KQ was followed by many other adventure games in this style."
Dino Run (WEB)
"A fast-paced, old school, pixel art Flash game where you are a dinosaur that has to run and jump to keep ahead of the Wall of Doom thrust from an asteroid crash. It has both a single and multiplayer component."
Characters:
Retodon8, — Retodon8 in Dino Run, level 5. Leveling up my little dino, I changed its colour to blue as soon as I unlocked it.
SimCity Terrain Editor (PC)
"Lets you place/change land, forests, and water, allowing you to build the perfect landscape for your city. Also add a fairway for ships, and edit the terrain after you've been building the city."
Battlefield 1942 (PC)
"Back when it came out I thought the way vehicles and the overall gameplay were implemented were really innovative. I only ever played the Wake Island demo though, and after that the first BF I played was Heroes."
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES)
"I remember seeing my friend Frans play this very interesting looking game. Only much later, after Ocarina of Time, I searched for it and played it myself. Still a very good game."
The Longest Journey (PC)
"When adventure games became less popular, The Longest Journey was a very welcome new game. It's a good game too."
Bomberman Live (X360)
"Classic Bomberman gameplay looking good as a modern XBLA game. A very good party game."
Unreal Tournament (PC)
"I downloaded the demo and played it a lot. Of course I had to buy the full game."
Characters:
Retodon8, — Retodon8 in UT, on DM-Deck16][. The character is WarBoss.
Zeliard (PC)
"A cool platform RPG where you fight your way through deeper and deeper caves. Kill monsters to collect almas that serve as currency to buy new equipment. Finally defeat the demon Jashiin and rescue princess Felicia."
Spelunky (PC)
"Old school platforming in randomly generated, destructible pixel art caves filled with Indiana Jones-style enemies and traps. Spelunky has that "one more try" quality" to it. (That one didn't count. One more try...)"
Unreal Anthology (PC)
"A nice set of all the Unreal games up until UT2004. A good introduction to the Unreal universe."
The Incredible Machine 3 (PC)
"If you missed earlier sequels, TIM3 is a great new version of the original classic. If you did play one of the sequels, this doesn't really bring anything new."
The Incredible Machine (PC)
"A cool puzzle game that is suitable for the whole family, requiring logical thinking, rewarding you with a fun experience."
Magic Carpet (PC)
"Flying a magic carpet flinging magic at monsters is cool, and back in the day this game looked and sounded beautiful too."
Jetpack (PC)
"A fun, free platform game with elements of Lode Runner and your character wearing a Jetpack."
Samorost (WEB)
"I really like the art style of this adventure game. Wood and moss and added mechanical parts create a unique fantasy experience."
TrackMania United (PC)
"Fun while it lasted, since superseded by TrackMania United Forever, a free patch."
Cave Story (PC)
"A really cool old school platform by an independent developer. This game "clicks" with me. It's free. Try it!"
SimCity (PC)
"When I discovered it, SimCity was exactly what I was looking for. You are so powerful you can create a whole city from nothing, but doing it is as easy as painting."
Wacky Wheels (PC)
"Fun Mario Kart clone. I played as Razor the shark, sometimes specifically against Tigi the tiger, controller by my little sister."
TrackMania Nations Forever (PC)
"A fun, no so realistic racing game that's free. Try this!"
Characters:
Retodon8, — Retodon8 is a bad driver. :) See my <a href="http://en.tm-ladder.com/retodon8_rech.php">ladder stats</a>.
Unreal Tournament 2004 (PC)
Characters:
Retodon8, — Retodon8 in UT2004, on DM-Antalus. The character is Damarus, one of the Gen Mo'Kai from Arborea. See <a href="http://ut2004stats.epicgames.com/playerstats.php?player=50155">my stats</a>
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (PC)
"The combat system is lacking, but everything else makes this a very good, modern adventure game. Playing through this makes you want to continue the journey."
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider -- Legend (X360)
"This game is a pretty good way to get the old franchise back into a positive light again."
The Manhole (MAC)
"The Manhole always distracted me from the other things to experience at the NINT (Nederlands Instituut voor Nijverheid en Techniek). A game with no end, and as I later found out, pre-cursor to Myst."
Unreal Championship 2: Liandri Conflict (XBOX)
"UC2 is one of those games that got good grades, but that didn't get played a whole lot anyway. Pretty different from the Unreal Tournament series, but a nice game indeed."
Prince of Persia Classic (X360)
"An enhanced version of the original Prince of Persia. This is the way older games should be "ported"."
Lemmings (PC)
"A classic puzzle game unlike any other puzzle game at the time. The gameplay and overall design held me captive for a long time."
TrackMania United Forever (PC)
"Fun, not-so-realistic driving game."
Characters:
Retodon8, — Retodon8 is a bad driver. :) See my <a href="http://en.tm-ladder.com/retodon8_rech.php">ladder stats</a>.
Command & Conquer (PC)
"The original Command & Conquer is my, and many others' first actual RTS experience."
Beyond Good & Evil (PC)
"Like everybody says, this game deserved a much bigger audience. It's a fun game, and I'm really glad a sequel has finally been announced."
Unreal (PC)
"The game that started the Unreal universe. Very atmospheric and beautiful game when it came out, still worth playing today."
Montezuma's Revenge: Featuring Panama Joe (2600)
"One of my favourite games on this system. Really interesting levels with really addictive gameplay."
Tomb Raider (PC)
"Before the new Prince of Persia games, this was PoP in 3D. Although later games weren't all as good, the original was great back in the day."
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PC)
"After seeing Nossie play Warrior Within, I had to try the new PoP. SoT has a great atmosphere, story, and gameplay. Only the fighting system is relatively weak."
Mutant Storm Empire (X360)
"A colourful, top down view multi-directional shooter with 2D gameplay and a 3D look. It's a fun game that can get pretty chaotic at higher difficulty settings."
Don't Look Back (WEB)
"A short, but fun game inspired by Orpheus mythology. It can be very frustrating at times, but with unlimited lives and auto-saving after every screen, you can just keep on trying the more difficult parts until you get through them."
Portal: The Flash Version (WEB)
"Do you know Valve's Portal? This is basically the same thing translated to a single screen, 2D platform game."
Legends of Zork (WEB)
"A free, Web-based RPG that takes a few minutes a day to play, not to mention the latest Zork game."
Characters:
Denroot, — Denroot in Legends of Zork, levelling up as a Travelling Salesman, Thrill-Seeker, and Adventurer. See <a href="http://legendsofzork.com/public/hero?hero=6494-denroot/">my stats</a>.
Retodon8, — Retodon8 in Legends of Zork, levelling up as a Travelling Salesman, Thrill-Seeker, and Adventurer. See <a href="http://legendsofzork.com/public/hero?hero=3183-retodon8/">my stats</a>.
Bubble Bobble (PC)
"Fun platformer, especially with friends. Of course your "friends" always managed to kill you with the you're-taking-too-long ghost, supposedly by accident. :)"
TrackMania Sunrise (PC)
"The first true sequel to the original TrackMania. I bought the eXtreme version, but switched to United when it came out a few months later."
Grand Theft Auto 2 (PC)
"An improvement over the original GTA. The only change I don't like is the lack of motorcycles."
Grand Theft Auto (PC)
"The original GTA, played from a top-down perspective, supplying hours of fun to me and my friends."
Worms 2 (PC)
"Worms, but improved in many ways. The better graphics and greater weapons selection are nice indeed."
Microsoft Solitaire (PC)
"The classic card game. Comes with Windows, so pretty much everybody played this at one time."
Joust (X360)
"A remake, but really more of a port, of the Joust I played on the Atari 2600. Mount your ostrich or stork, fly higher than the enemy buzzards and dismount the evil knights with your lance. It's as much fun as it was when I first played it."
Battlefield Heroes (PC)
"A free, third person Battlefield game. I received a key for the closed beta, so I'm playing/testing it now. Can't talk about it though."
Unreal Tournament 3 (PC)
"The third game in the Unreal Tournament series. A fast-paced FPS, although the dodge jumping from UT2 didn't make it."
Characters:
Retodon8, — Currently a robot, although I plan on switching to Necris. See <a href="http://www.enemydown.co.uk/ut3stats.php?id=5790016">my character stats</a> or <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/id/Retodon8/stats/UnrealTournament3/">Personal Achievements</a>.
Prince of Persia (PC)
"A true classic. At least try the Xbox 360 version, aptly named "Prince of Persia Classic", if you haven't played this yet."
Normality (PC)
"An adventure game played from a first-person perspective was a new experience for me. I enjoyed it."
Heretic (PC)
"I suppose in a way this is "Fantasy Doom", but it is also quite a bit more, including fun to play."
Unreal Tournament 2003 (PC)
"Fun while it lasted, but soon superseded by UT2004 which added several improvements, including vehicles."
Uno (X360)
"Card game you get for free with an Xbox Live Vision camera. Seems to be a nice distraction when you have some time to kill."
The Great Giana Sisters (C64)
"Played this both at a computer at school and at a friends. Nice platformer; I think I wasn't at bad at this as I was at Super Mario Bros.."
Rampage (PC)
"Great fun playing (Ralph) with/against my little sister (George), breaking down buildings and punching buses back and forth."
World of Warcraft (PC-MAC)
Characters:
Denroot, Level 70 Night Elf Druid — Denroot is a Night Elf Druid with knowledge of Skinning and Leatherworking. She was incarnated by <a href="http://nossie.gamerdna.com/">Nossie</a> when I stopped playing, so this is no longer me.
Retodon, Level 70 Night Elf Priest — Retodon is a Night Elf Priest with knowledge of Herbalism and Alchemy. He was incarnated by <a href="http://nossie.gamerdna.com/">Nossie</a> when I stopped playing, so this is no longer me.
Assassin's Creed (X360)
"I suppose there could've been a bit more variation in this game, but if you do all the side missions repetition isn't too bad. A pretty interesting experience and yes, fun to play."
Spy Hunter (2600)
"A cool song while you're driving around, trying to avoid getting killed. It took me a while to realize you're not supposed to crash as many cars as possible; most are innocent civilians. Oops!"
TrackMania Sunrise
"I got the eXtreme version, but didn't play it for long thanks to TrackMania United."
Prince of Persia (X360)
"Prince of Persia is a fun experience, but I would've liked a bit more of a challenge. Compared to the Sands of Time trilogy this game was simplified a bit too much."
Halo 3 (X360)
Characters:
Retodon8, — Sangheili (Elite) in blue and dark grey armour. See <a href="http://www.bungie.net/stats/Halo3/default.aspx?player=Retodon8">my stats</a>.
Halo 2 (XBOX)
"I bought the Halo Triple Pack after I realised/decided this is one of those series everybody needs to have played."
Gremlins (2600)
"A bit of a stressful game, but it didn't feel impossible, and practice makes perfect. I don't think I'd even seen the film when I originally played this game."
Day of Defeat (PC)
"Day of Defeat is a game I was introduced to by the clan I'm in; [COW]."
Guild: [COW]
Characters:
Retodon8, — I haven't played DoD in a while now. See my <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/id/Retodon8/stats/DOD:S">Personal Achievements</a>.

"After many in my clan started playing COD4, I figured I'd join them."
Guild: [COW]
Characters:
Retodon8, — I don't have a favourite class just yet.
BC's Quest for Tires (C64)
"Actually I played the Atari 800 XL version. Unlike my little sister, I never could finish this game then. When I tried again in the new millennium I did it in one go."
Gears of War 2 (X360)
"More elaborate story, better graphics with more colour, more gameplay diversity. Overall a good sequel to the original. "
Characters:
Retodon8, — I haven't played Gears of War 2 online yet. See my <a href="http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/photogallery/usergallery.htm?ViewType=3&Gamertag=Retodon8>SScope=1">photo gallery</a>.
Minecraft (PC)
"More of a toy right now, but it looks like this could become a fun sandbox type game."
Thing-Thing Arena 3 (WEB)
"A 2D platformer where you control your character with your keyboard and aim your gun all around him using your mouse. Enemies continuously spawn in the small arena you're in, and you dispatch of them to get their guns to kill more enemies."
Eets: Chowdown (X360)
"A puzzle game, a bit like a mix between Lemmings (only one character) and The Incredible Machine."
Undertow (X360)
"I got this XBLA game for free as Microsoft's excuse for the long downtime. I only played it once so far."
Hexic HD (X360)
"This puzzle game came pre-installed, and I played it a few times, but it didn't seem interesting enough to me to really play it properly. I should try it again sometime in the future."
Caverns of Khafka (C64)
"Actually I played the Atari 800 XL version. A cool platformer with a very interesting world to run around in."
Zool: Ninja of the "Nth" Dimension (PC)
"A classmate had Zool on the Amiga and highly recommended this. I bought it and was disappointed. It's fun for a while, but nothing special."
Totemball (X360)
"TotemBall is interesting enough for a freebie, though not really my kind of game."
Half-Life: Source (PC)
"Pretty much identical to the original version Half-Life. I got it with Half-Life 2, so this is a nice way to play through the original again."
Serious Sam II (PC)
"Only played a bit of single player so far. Not as fun as the original, but a decent game."
Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack (XBOX)
"I bought Halo, Halo 2, and this, as part of the Halo Triple Pack. Never played Halo 2 online though."
Ballblazer (C64)
"Actually I played this game on the Atari 800 XL. One of those games where I had no idea what was happening for a long time. Strangely addictive music."

"A friend of mine had Arac (aka Spiderbot) on his C64. Sometimes when I visited we had another go at this game."

Yaris (X360)
"A free game/advertisement where the developers forgot to think about gameplay and fun."

"The sequel to 1999's Web-based <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utopia_(online_game)">Utopia</a>."
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (WII)
"I don't know how this will turn out, but I like the Indiana Jones stories, so I want to try this."
Rex Nebular and The Cosmic Gender Bender (PC)
"I played bits of this, but never played it properly start to finish. I should."
Batman: Arkham Asylum (X360)
"Going by the trailers and descriptions, this game could very well end up a good one."
Jill of the Jungle (PC)
"The game feels a bit choppy, making it hard to judge jumps, but still a solid platformer."
Diablo III (PC)
"I never did really get into Diable or Diablo II, but I want to give Diablo III a chance! :)"
Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter (PC)
"A graphical improvement over the previous games in the series, with a different gameplay feel. Also a good game."
